This piece was inspired by Exodus 19, the moment just before Moses received the Ten Commandments. I wanted to create an iconic work that would reflect the holiness of God and serve as a visual anchor for our new series.
What makes the story behind it so meaningful is that I didn’t realize I would be painting during the opening week of the Ten Commandments series. Over a month earlier, while teaching kids about God’s holiness, I had created a similar piece. When I asked the Lord what to paint for this service, He brought that earlier work back to mind.
